I bought this at Sephora and it’s amazing! I have been using the Barescentuals Mineral Veil for years but notice that it’s not really doing anything for me – this new HD powder is amazing. First it’s very silky feeling and extremely lightweight, it goes on very easy and doesn’t enhance wrinkles or dry lines, but it also creates a lovely, natural-looking matte finish and makes my skin look more even. It’s very white but blends right in. I haven’t tried it in really hot weather yet but will update in a few weeks.

This powder is amazing. It goes on nice and light, and blends easily with everything. I usually blend my sunscreen with a little foundation or tinted moisturizer, and was a little dubious to try this powder over it, but it looks great regardless of the combo of stuff I use underneath. Also, it doesn’t settle into my little wrinkles or look too matte and “powdery”. I got this and still had a little old loose powder left over (a different brand), and it’s hard to use up the old stuff and not just toss it and move to the good stuff. I highly, highly recommend it.

This is a great product. I have T-zone sensitive skin. Sometimes my face is really oily and I need powder foundation. (I use bare minerals) and sometimes it’s really dry and I need liquid foundation. (I use Dior Totale Capture.) Until recently I haven’t found a great finishing powder. I have tried Dior Skin; it was so so, I’ve tried mineral veil; it was drying, tried hydrating mineral veil; too cakey.
So I checked up on this product when there were only a few reviews. I have to say the review that had the small white ball problem made me a little leery to spend the $30. But there were two good reviews.
Thank goodness I did. This is the best stuff. It doesn’t conceal or cake on, but rather it blurs and perfects. I have been using it for two weeks straight and have had no problems, little white ball or other wise. It goes over both liquid and powder foundation perfectly, and I didn’t even buy the special brush that compliments it. I just use the bare minerals flawless face and don’t have a complaint.
If you are having problems with a finishing powder, or don’t like the store ones just try it out, it looks a little scary being so white and fine, but it blends and blurs perfect!

This powder is incredible. It makes your skin look smooth and flawless. I never thought a powder could make such a difference but it really does. I will never use anything else!

This powder is just silica. 100%. You can buy from cosmetic suppliers for peanuts. I mean really. Like 5x the amount of powder for about $4. So why buy this one?
I think the MUFE HD Microfinish Powder is a bit more finely milled than what I have gotten from a cosmetic supplier. And you can buy it easily here online with no minimum purchase where a cosmetic supplier did not want to sell me $4 worth of product unless I paid $15 shipping and handling.
So what is the difference between this powder and other (non silica) powders?
Silica absorbs moisture better than most minerals that can be milled down to a powder. You might get better absorption from say, a clay. But clay can’t be used 100% straight on your face without creating a color cast and most likely some cakey dryness. So for moisture absorbing properties in a powder that won’t change the color of your makeup: silica is your best bet.
Using this powder is a bit tricky. It is so fine that it is like working with smoke. It is so so so so easy to overload a brush that I recommend using a smaller, less dense brush to get this powder on your face at first. Here is how I like to use it:
1) using just my ring finger, I sweep some powder off the lid of the container and pat under my eyes after putting on concealer but before applying eye makeup or mascara. This powder absorbs all the fallout and better yet – I can wear ANY mascara TO THE GYM and it won’t flake, run, or smudge. After I get my eye makeup on I sweep any fallout away and blend the powder so there are no white spots.
2) using a small kind of limp blush brush (the Smashbox blush brush is good for this) I load up the brush just barely, tap the excess gently, and lightly pat the powder on my face. Then I take a big fluffy clean brush like a MAC 150 or a Kabuki (182) is good too – and I buff the powder. This powder is great for HD photo and video but only if you blend well. If you don’t you will see a white cast on your images and it is not likely to be a pretty look.
Here is the big disclaimer. Some people claim that inhaling silica spheres such as the ones in MUFE HD Microfinish Powder cause silicosis. Which is bad. I don’t know if that is true. But I will say that inhaling ANY airborne particles is probably not a good thing not matter what they are. So don’t shake a bunch of powder around or inhale when you put this on. And if you are worried about it, move on and choose another powder.
