My shoulder length hair is very thick and typically takes forty minutes to dry. With this dryer, I am done in half the time. I love it! After using this dryer, my hair is soft and frizz free, without having to use products or a hair straightener. I have owned many hair dryers and this is the first that has been able to control the frizz in my thick hair.

I whole heartedly recommend this hair dryer.

This is a great hair dryer. I blow my curly hair straight and then flat iron it smooth. My old “cheapo” dryers would create a mushroom-shaped pouf on my head, which, in turn, would take forever to flat iron out. This dryer makes my hair noticeably smoother (and much less freaky!) and cuts my time with the flat iron in half!

I did give it four stars instead of five because it is slightly on the heavy side, but not so heavy that I would return it. I would purchase it again. Maybe it will help me work on the muscle tone in my arms :)

It has been several months now since I reviewed this item. I am still very pleased with the performance of the blow dryer. A few additional comments:

    1. The motor stays cool so the body is not hot after use.

    2. The cord does not twist or knot up like less expensive electrical cords often do

    3. I am buying one for my daughter’s brirthday right now!

Love love love this new blow dryer from Remington. The sleek professional body is balanced and easy to mange when tossing, flipping or curling my hair. I found some of the professional dryers are large and quite heavy. This is very manageable lightweight and ergonomically designed for comfortable handling from all angles around the head. The motor is quite and has cut my drying time in half. If you read the product description it does call out that it has a salon quality AC motor is within the dryer and this motor helps contribute to a faster drying time in comparison to other leading dryers with DC motors. I have to agree with this statement! I also like the 6 different power setting combinations (3 heats and 2 speeds) there is lots of versatility to the dryer and the controls are easy to switch while in use.

The product description also calls out that it repel humidity and static which results in incredible lasting frizz-free shine. I cannot speak to this as I do not have humidity.

The Remington D-2012 is definitely a grade above the $10-$30 hair dryers you see at Target. Whether or not it is comparable to a CHI, I don’t know. I DO know it is half the price of a CHI, and unlike Farouk (who makes the CHI), Remington will honor the warranty if you buy it on the internet. The CHI is a solid product so not many people get bitten by the voided warranty when you buy on Amazon, but there’s always that chance.

The D-2012 has two air speeds and three heat settings. I use middle heat + low airflow for my short guy hair. My wife uses high heat + low or high airflow for her long thick hair. She says it drys so fast that her hair is dry before she has finished styling it.

The dryer has a very solid, commercial grade feel to it. Read this to mean it’s heavy compared with basic hair dryers. I find it to be quieter than my wife’s old dryer that claimed to be quiet.

All in all this product is a winner if you are looking for a really good solid hair dryer but you don’t have the coin for a CHI. This hair dryer is likely one of the best in the sub $50 category.

Wow, amazing product. I have been air-drying my curly hair for the past 15 years, which was okay, but in the summer it dried frizzy because of humidity and in the winter my hair would sometimes freeze when I left the house. I had had enough, so I bought this dryer and decided not to leave it up to Mother Nature anymore. I am so pleased.

My curls are about the width of a finger, and I used the dryer on the medium heat and the medium air flow using the included diffuser. It took me about 10 minutes, which isn’t very long considering how thick and curly my hair is. The diffuser’s fingers held my hair up at the roots and gave it some volume, and its large size ensured that my hair wouldn’t be blasted by a thin stream of air. When I was about done, I sprayed some hairspray over my hair and gave it an all-around with the hot setting, and then the cold setting. My hair looks perfect!!!

    Highly recommended for curly hair.
